As a mom of three, I can honestly tell you this:
You think you’ll remember everything. You think you’ll always remember how tiny they felt on your chest. The newborn stretches. The middle-of-the-night snuggles. The way their whole body fit perfectly in your arms. And then somehow… it all changes so fast.
When you’re preparing for a baby, there are lists everywhere.
The registry.
The hospital bag.
The nursery checklist.
You spend months making sure you have every single thing your baby could possibly need. But one thing I think every new mom truly needs—and often forgets to prioritize—is newborn portraits.
Not because they don’t matter. But because in the middle of preparing for birth and surviving those first few weeks postpartum, it’s easy to think:
“We’ll figure it out later.”
As a Houston newborn photographer—and a mom myself—I can promise you this stage passes faster than you think it will.

When my babies were little, I never realized how many tiny things were already disappearing while I was just trying to survive the day.
The sleepy yawns.
The curled-up newborn legs.
The way they instantly settled against my heartbeat.
The milk-drunk naps on my chest.
At the time, those moments felt endless. Now they feel like a blur. That’s why newborn portraits matter so much. Not because everything is perfectly styled or posed—but because these photos preserve the beginning of your motherhood story exactly as it felt.
The love.
The exhaustion.
The softness of those early days.

After having three babies myself, I know firsthand how overwhelming those first weeks can feel. The last thing most new moms want to do is pack up a newborn, leave the house, and make it to a studio on time while recovering postpartum That’s why I built my newborn experience around staying home. Your session happens slowly and naturally inside the space where your family is already settling into this new season together.
No rushing.
No pressure.
No perfectly clean house required.
Just your family, your baby, and the moments you’ll someday miss more than you can imagine.
Your home becomes part of the story, too. The nursery you spent months preparing, the rocking chair where you feed your baby at 2 AM, and the couch where your older kids climb beside you to hold the baby. Those little details matter.

Almost every mom says the same thing to me after their newborn session: “I’m so glad we did this.”
Because once the newborn haze lifts, these images become priceless. They remind you of a season that felt impossibly long while you were in it—but somehow ended much too soon. As moms, we spend so much time making sure everyone else is taken care of. Newborn portraits are one of the few things that allow you to hold onto this chapter for yourself too.
One of my favorite parts of photographing growing families is getting to document the full journey—from the anticipation and excitement of maternity photos to finally bringing your baby home. If you’d like to see one of my recent maternity sessions, you can view it HERE.

The swaddles will eventually get packed away.
The newborn outfits will stop fitting.
And these early days will quietly become memories.
Your photographs are what help you hold onto them.
