MOMMY & ME FIRST BIRTHDAY SESSION | TRISTAN SMASH CAKE

What’s a first birthday session without cake? I love documenting the first birthday milestone for many reasons but the smash cake portion of the session is always my favorite. It’s so fun to see their reactions- some children love it, some want nothing to do with it and others are just confused by the whole thing. Regardless of their reaction, it always makes for a great memory.

Typically, I encourage the whole family to join in on a First Year session but Tristan’s dad is currently deployed. So, we opted for a Mommy & Me session followed by a smash cake. Seeing this beautiful mama with her boys was so heartwarming and I’m so incredibly honored that I got to document such a big milestone for this family.

This Antique white high chair & wooden “one” sign  are available to all Signature session or First Year Collection clients. For smash cake sessions, I always recommend keeping the cake small, neutral and simple. It’s so classic and won’t take the focus away from your baby.
